Yeah, We're Fancy

Since Hong Kong was occupied by the British for 99 years, there is a lot of English traditions that have continued. One of the best is afternoon tea. I used to work at an English tearoom in Kentucky during college, so it's something I enjoy. And I forced Gen to enjoy it with me at the Peninsula Hotel.
This is one of the 5-star hotels in Hong Kong. It's really close to the Star Ferry Pier and Victoria Harbor.
We didn't stay here, obviously. I think the rooms are around $500 a night. We were totally discouraged when we arrived, because the line for tea was really, really long. They don't take reservations, so it's just first come, first served. Luckily we got there in the middle of the first seating, so we only had to wait about 30 minutes. Also, they have a no flip-flop policy and I was wearing flip flops. But my dress was long enough so that if I stood still and bent my knees a little, it covered up the flops. They're serious, too. Two women were ejected from the line for blatant flip flop wearing.
Here's the tea. Fancy.
And here's me with the tea tray. The scones especially were so yummy. But I think my tastes have changed since college, because there were just too many sweets for me. I felt the cavities coming on.
