Hollywood Road and Cat Street are two streets lined with antique shops and art galleries. We found some fun goodies, including a set of jade lions (400 years old!) and an oil painting. There was a ton more, like some Chairman Mao kitsch, old advertising posters, and wooden Buddhas and other carvings.
We found a great furniture store and were sorely tempted, but the logistics of trying to ship it back to the US with no actual address was just too confusing to think about during a vacation. Good stuff, though.
In our hotel there was a lifestyle magazine that had a fashion spread shot in front of the store to the left with the red awning.
Some interesting art. I'm not sure if the portrait to the left is supposed to be President Obama or not.
This is the mid-level escalator, the longest covered escalator system in the world. It links the residential Mid-Level district with the Central business district. In the mornings the escalators run downward and then up in the afternoons and evenings.
The street here is completely lined with funky little bars and restaurants.
Wouldn't this be an interesting commute?
